I came home today to bring my dad his new glasses.  My mom was terribly excited, because new glasses for my dad meant no more cheap readers randomly finding their way to obscure places.  This is his first pair of progressive lenses, and he's had a little trouble adjusting to them, but he'll manage.  He's willing to do anything to not have to carry around a suitcase full of readers anymore.

Aside from driving 4.5 hours today, this has been one of the more relaxing weekends I've had.  Tonight will consist of nothing but winter olympics and SpongeBob.  Next weekend will be restful as well.  The weekend after that [info]crushwithpink and Lori will be coming for a visit, and we all know that no sleep will be had that weekend :)

I just got done making my dad a split CD of The Shins/Of Montreal.  My dad's so cute.  He loves major chords.  He's guarenteed to love this.  I'm making myself a copy of it right now. I looked at the track listing and realized that I could never be expected to function normally without such a CD.  It's the ultimate indie pop 60's sounding synth music CD ever! It makes me wanna bounce.  It makes me wanna hug a puppy.  So twee!! So poppy!! Can't....stand......it.......*croak*

I hope we can visit you/you can visit us sometime soon. Wow, I could only dream of making either of my parents such a mix. There was this one time back in high school where I was hanging out in my room listening to The Stooges, and my dad comes in and I thought he was going to ask me to turn it down but it just goes "who is that? That guy has a really good voice." I was stunned.

Isn't it great when that happens? My dad is also a Green Day fan. But I'm not....

sounds like you're making progress getting your dad into progressives.
my family work is a little more challenging, the idea of getting a prescription/eye exam is foreign to my grandparents who insist on buying their multifocals from a flea market, where they try a bunch on and buy the ones that seem the best.
